I was really concerned about the length. I'm 5'6 1/2" and I ended up wearing the 8L with flats. It dragged the ground a teensy bit but I would rather that than it be too short. I was definitely the prettiest girl in the room and kept getting so many compliments! I'm normally a size 10 in dresses so ordered both the 10L and 8L and ended up wearing the 8L. The 8L fit comfortably and the chest area fit tighter like it was supposed to. Had a problem with it being low cut and showing my bra but I just safety pinned the dress straps to my bra straps and that did the trick. Seriously a stunner of a dress!
