I wore this dress to a Mardi Gras ball in New Orleans. I wanted an evening gown with a bit of "glam" to match the festive environment of Carnival. The rose gold color of this dress was stunning! I'm 5'10 and wore 3 inch heels. I thought the 6L was perhaps 1 inch too short (I didn't love the look of the shoes I was wearing, so I would have liked to have a slightly longer gown). If I were to do it again, I would order the 6XL. As the other reviews suggest, this dress runs a little big. Normally, I either fit into a 6 (a bit snug) or an 8 (a bit loose). In this dress, the 8L was too big. the 6L fit just right. Even though I have a small bust size, the dress still worked nicely for me! Two other (tall) women rented this same style for the event I attended (one in navy and one in black). Both of them looked elegant and beautiful. Depending on the "effect" you are going for, I would suggest getting this dress in gold for a truly "dazzling" look; whereas, I would suggest getting this dress in navy or black for a more subtle, yet no less fabulous, look.
