I fit into the 12L perfectly, but then the sleeves and bottom were WAY too short. That forced me to wear the 14L which was boarderline too big. The draping is also significantly different than shown in the model picture. I would recommend going through some of the review pictures to get an actual idea of how this might drape on you. I think this dress was made for someone with a small waist and bigger hips, and not really for my apple shaped body. I was worried about the slit being too high, but it actually turned out quite tasteful. The material is thick and kept me warm for the evening formal wedding I went to in New York. The dress fit, but honestly did very little for me.
