Missoni for Target
Yes. You read it correctly. Target’s next designer collaboration is with Missoni! The fashion house will create women’s, men’s and kid’s clothing, bedding and kitchenware and will hit stores on September 13th, smack in the middle of New York Fashion Week. This will be Target’s biggest collection yet, with more than 400 pieces for the Missoni lover in you. Now the question is- stand in line outside the nearest Target or sit at the tents on the morning of the 13th?! [Vogue]

Nanette Dives into Swimwear
Nanette Lepore had her first swimwear presentation in Beverly Hills this week, pulling all of her favorite prints from the archives to create her retro-chic suits. We love that we can wear Nanette in the water but are torn between which one to get! Check out her swimwear collection here. [LATimes]
camilla and marc: Spring 2012
camilla and marc showed their latest collection at Australian Fashion Week on Tuesday. They’re known for their tailoring and feminine cuts, which was still very apparent in the show. We loved the use of bright colors and alternative vibe they added to this collection. Which is your favorite look? [Fashionista]
Proenza, Proenza
Design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler are on the expansion boat. We told you two weeks ago that they were looking into the fragrance industry (click here for a refresher) and now got word that they are launching a jewelry collection. They hope that the line will be ready for their next pre-collection season and will be comprised of season-less, classic pieces that will be “reprised each season in different colors and materials.” We’re excited to see it! Friday Fashion Fun: Royal Wedding, Tibi & T-Shirts?
Fri, 2011-04-29 17:34 | by AnonymousIf you thought we were including the Royal Wedding in this edition of Friday Fashion Fun, you were on the money. Pics from the Royal Wedding, Tibi for a good cause and more on Kylie Minogue and D&G below!
Your Royal Highness
All aboard the Royal Wedding train! It’s the only thing that’s been on our radar today and the big reveal finally happened. Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen designed the wedding dress for the Queen-to-be and we thought she was picture perfect. The hats, flower girls and prince made it all a wedding to remember. What was your favorite part? [TheCut]
Following Up on D&G
Last week we informed you that D&G was designing all of Kylie Minogue and Matthew Morrison’s concert wear. Click here for a refresher. Now there’s something even better. You could be the designer of her next T-shirt! D&G and Kylie are asking for every designer-in-the-making to submit a T-shirt design. The winner of the contest will have the t-shirt signed and worn by Kylie herself and photographed under the D&G label. Make sure you submit by May 11 and click here for details. Are you submitting a design? [WWD]
Tibi For a Good Cause
Tibi has created scarves with the prints we love to benefit Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Pediatric Cancer Care and Research. All proceeds go are donated to the program and are also tax deductible. Click here to check it out! [TibiBlog]
Friday Fashion Fun: Fragrance, Concerts, Resort & More
Fri, 2011-04-22 16:33 | by AnonymousThis week has been full of sneak peaks, Gleeks, and things to patiently wait for in the coming months. Read on for the details.
D&G- Concert Series
In addition to Kylie Minogue’s tour Mr. Stefano and Mr. Domineco of D&G have something else up their sleeves. This week, Radar informed us that Matthew Morrison- or as you may know him, Glee’s Mr. Schuester- will be outfitted in D&G for his upcoming tour. Kicking off in Dublin on June 6th, we are antsy to see what he will be performing in. What do you think he’ll be wearing? D&Gleek? [Radar]
Proenza Schouler Fragrance?
This week Proenza Schouler’s CEO Shirley Cook revealed that she’s been researching the fragrance world in hopes of a Proenza perfume coming to a store near you. What do you think it will smell like? We're hoping the bottle design is out of this world. [Into the Gloss]
Alberta Ferretti Fall Campaign
We got a glimpse of Alberta Ferretti’s fall campaign shoot, featuring Arizona Muse. The setting was a humble home scene, but as soon as the Ferretti clothes took center stage it morphed into a pattern mixing, color blocking bonanza. What do you think of the shots? [Fashionologie]

All About Prabal Gurung
The search for John Galliano’s predecessor at Dior has been on for some time now, but RTR fave Prabal Gurung is rumored to be a candidate. How would you feel about Prabal designing for Dior? [Fashionista] In other Prabal news, he will be debuting his first resort collection- can’t wait! [WWD]
Friday Fashion Fun: Calypso, Rachel Roy & Galliano
Fri, 2011-04-15 15:54 | by AnonymousThis week was all about new lines and collaborations and one of fashion’s biggest controversies comes to a gloomy ending. Read on!
Calypso X Target
All time favorite boho chic label Calypso St. Barth is curating a line for Target! The collaboration is going beyond women’s ready to wear, also featuring kid’s wear, home goods, jewelry and shoes. These are a couple of our favorites that will hit the stores on May 1st. Make sure you block some time off of your calendar to visit your nearest Target. [Racked]
Rachel Roy & Amar’e Stoudemire
Amar’e Stoudemire was seen all over the tents during New York Fashion Week in February, but he’s taking his fashion even more seriously. Stoudemire and Rachel Roy have teamed up to create a line for Macy’s under the Rachel Rachel Roy label. The line will be focused on sporty separates and will be priced from $45 to $250. Their inspiration? What super models Gisele and Kate Moss wear to when they watch sports… naturally. [NBC]
Thanks to Refinery29 for the pic!
You’re Fired
John Galliano was officially fired from John Galliano today. The outcome of a series of anti-Semitic remarks resulted in his firing from Dior, but he was still head designer at his namesake label. After one month at an Arizona rehab, the 91% Dior owned John Galliano label fired John Galliano himself. Can you imagine how it would feel to not own your own name? [WWD]
Friday Fashion Fun: Shoes, Japan Relief & DVF for Gap Kids?

Japan Relief
The CFDA has rallied some of fashion’s key players to raise more funds for Japan. Up for the taking is a week-long stay at Diane Von Furstenberg’s Harbour Island Beach House, lunch and a style consultation with Rachel Zoe, meet and greet with Anna Wintour at a Vogue magazine photo shoot and plenty more. The auctions are available on CharityBuzz.com and let’s face it- this might be one of the only opportunities that you get to chat with Anna Wintour on the set of Vogue! [Mashable]

Remember Alice + Olivia’s spring collection video? Well, they’re at it again. This time they’ve released a video showcasing their new shoe collection. Stacked purple sandals, polka dot, cheetah print and patent red wedges and a food fight? Watch the video here. [Fashionista]
Another major player has entered the footwear market this week. Mark & James by Badgley Mischka launched their perfect pairs for spring on Nordstrom.com. Their collection is all about the nudes you need for the hot weather to come.
DVF x Gap Kids?
We've gotten word that DVF is collaborating with Gap Kids to release a line for your little one. Gap had a tremendously successful run with Stella McCartney’s children’s line, so it doesn’t surprise us that they are looking for someone to succeed McCartney. Considering DVF launched maternity wear last week, this seems like the logical next step. Would you buy DVF x Gap Kids? We would be all over it! [Racked]

Remembering Elizabeth Taylor
Wed, 2011-03-23 12:49 | by AnonymousOne of the most globally known actresses, Elizabeth Taylor passed away today at the age of 79 in Los Angeles due to heart failure. The actress had over 50 films under her belt and the number one selling celebrity fragrance in the world, White Diamonds. We will remember the icon not only for her unconditional support as an activist to HIV/AIDS, but always for her love of fashion and passion for acting. Our best wishes go out to her family and we will continue to relive our memories of her for years to come.
The RTR Buying Process
Tue, 2011-03-22 16:40 | by AnonymousThe best time of the year to be in New York is fashion week! Fashion week occurs twice a year in NYC as designers put on shows to preview their collections to retailers. RTR’s fashion team attends the big shows at the tents to find the best styles to bring to the site. In this post, our stylist Alissa gives us the run down on how RTR buys for all of you.
1. Fashion Shows
Designers present their latest collections, showing us their vision for the upcoming season. RTR attends to see what’s to come for the following season.
2. Market Week
After the show our buyers attend “market week” to view the collection in person. The collection is usually a combination of sample pieces that walked on the runway, commercial looks (a more “wearable” version of the runway looks) and pieces that weren’t shown on the catwalk. Here, they usually bump into some of our friends from Saks, Bergdorf and Barney’s- we buy just like they would. Pictures and notes are taken of dresses the team loves and taken back to the office to be decided on later.
3. Order
This is the hardest part! The team looks through all of the photos that were taken throughout market week and takes into consideration our member requests, Style Council votes and trend analysis before placing the big order. Each order is placed to the specific designer and the rest is history.
4. Photo Shoot
Once they’ve decided on the styles they love, they call in all the dresses. Each designer sends RTR a dress from the order we placed for a photo shoot at the RTR headquarters. We photograph the dresses a few months before the dresses actually arrive in our warehouse.
5. Site
After we choose our favorite pics for the site, the finished dresses are shipped to the RTR warehouse where they are barcoded, racked and finally, ready to rent!
Friday Fashion Fun: CFDA, Vena Cava, & Capsule Lines to Love
Fri, 2011-03-18 14:46 | by Anonymous
Vena Cava: Web Facelift
Vena Cava relaunched their website this week. It’s quirky, a bit sarcastic and on trend- all of the things we love about Vena Cava. We especially love their “Vibes” section which includes curated looks that you can add straight to your shopping cart. Anyone up for a “Black Tie Che Guevara” look? [Vena Cava]
CFDA Announces 2011 Nominees
The CFDA 2011 nominees are out and some of our very own RTR designers have made the list. Congrats to Proenza Schouler, nominated for both the womenswear and accessory categories and Prabal Gurung nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear. We wish you both the best of luck. The Olsen twins also made the list with their label, The Row, and Lady Gaga will be receiving the Fashion Icon Award. Can’t wait to see who wins! Who is your vote for? [CFDA]
Go International with Target
Target relived all of it’s fashion favorites last Thursday. They’ve released their best sellers from capsule lines that they’ve done in the past. Some of the best pieces are from Alice Temperley, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Thakoon and Zac Posen. Will you be shopping for these? [Target]
