Gossip Girl Style: Blair's Bridesmaids

Tonight Gossip Girl episode is a milestone in two respects: Blair's wedding and it's the show's 100th episode! It's hard to imagine what our Monday nights would be without the escapades of Manhattan's elite.

When we caught this picture of Blair's bridesmaids, we couldn't help but love the color palatte. Blush and neutral tones are everywhere right now and it seems like the people at GG are loving the trend. To get this soft, feminine look and channel Blair's entourage, rent Milly's Almond Rosette dress for your next date night, cocktail party, or event. It would also be a perfect pick for Valentine's Day (whether you're single or taken!).

Meet Lucy Sykes: Our New Fashion Director!

We are thrilled and pleased to welcome Lucy Sykes Rellie full time to the Rent the Runway team! Lucy has been consulting on a number of styling projects since July and we couldn't be more excited for her to bring her expertise to RTR in a bigger capacity.

Prior to joining Rent the Runway Lucy was most notably the Fashion Director at Marie Claire magazine from 2001 to 2007, while simultaneously launching her own children’s clothing line in 2005. The collection, appropriately named Lucy Sykes New York, was carried by key retailers including Saks, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom (among others). Lucy also spent time as a contributing fashion editor at Cookie magazine, and as a stylist on staff at Allure and Town & Country. Additionally, Lucy has appeared regularly as a fashion commentator on The Today Show, CNN, CNBC and Full Frontal Fashion.

Here are some of Lucy's favorite picks from our new arrivals, and stay tuned for more fashion fun!

Get The Look: Golden Globes Red Carpet

The red carpet at last night's Golden Globes featured an array of expected and unexpected styles and trends. Below are some of our favorites from the night and you can get their celebrity looks on RTR!

Having just launched Reem Acra on our site, we were thrilled to see Julie Bowen rock the Florence Gown that we just got in! She looks so old Hollywood glam and her soft waves are the perfect complement to the delicate tulle gown.

Reese looked ravishing in this structured, curve hugging Zac Posen gown. The sweetheart neckline suits her well and her sun kissed skin and loose waves give off a perfect blonde bombshell effect. This Bibhu Mohapatra Gown would be perfect for any formal event this winter/spring!

Seriously, can Charlize do no wrong? She looked absolutely ethereal in this Dior Haute Couture gown. For a perfectly positioned deep-V, go with this Temperley London Rosette Charm Gown.

Natalie Portman went super feminine in this pink and red satin Lanvin gown. To emulate Natalie's tailored, sophisticated look with a pop of color go with this Badgley Mischka Lady of Love Gown.

Emma Stone for the win, again! We've been seeing burgundy and plum everywhere lately and Emma's look from last night confirms the colors are here to stay. We especially loved how the Lanvin dress was adorned with an eagle belt. To get Emma's look, work this Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Burgundy Bliss Gown at your next event.

It's safe to say that Rooney Mara stayed in character as Lisbeth Salander last night in this beautifully cut black Nina Ricci dress. To get her edgy, yet feminine look at a less formal event try the Nina Ricci Seductive Corset Lace Dress.

Glee star Amber Riley wore this ruffle red Badgley Mischka gown with confidence and grace. The sweetheart neckline flatters her figure perfectly and we love a lady in red!

Trend We Love: Peek-A-Boo Shoulders

A fun, flirty trend to try just in time for Valentine's Day? It's fate! We are loving styles with peek-a-boo shoulders that give off just the right amount of sweet and sexy. Whether you're single or taken this February 14th, rent any of these frocks for the attention you want (and deserve!).

2012 Golden Globes Red Carpet Predictions

Awards season kicks off this Sunday with the Golden Globes. The fashion is always a toss up at these awards with stars either playing it safe going edgy. We'd love to see some of the nominees break out of their shell and try something new. See below for our red carpet predictions!

Rooney Mara has been seen all over the red carpet in funky, asymmetrical pieces mostly in darker hues like this Prabal Gurung number. We love the silhouette but see her mixing it up a bit with this ethereal piece by Roksanda Ilincic.

Charlize Theron consistently wears very feminine, figure flattering gowns to red carpet events. We adore this super glamorous canary yellow Christian Siriano gown and know that this would be a super flattering, show-stealing look on the actress.

Kate Winslet usually takes to the red carpet in bold colors and we'd love to see her stick to this trend. Kate should show of her statuesque figure and toned arms in this burnt orange Bibhu Mohapatra gown from his Fall 2011 collection.

Kirsten Dunst is back in action after an award worthy performance in Melancholia. We see her owning the red carpet in this gorgeous printed Yigal Azrouel dress from his Spring 2012 collection. Can you say best dressed?

Meryl Streep is always elegant with her gown choices on the red carpet. We would love to see her in something age appropriate yet a bit trendy like this two toned Yigal Azrouel gown.

Michelle Williams loves to wear simple yet exceptionally chic gowns on the red carpet. In this bold, body hugging Matthew Williamson gown Michelle is sure to snag the best dressed award! Plus, the color would look absolutely stunning with her hair and complexion.

Claire Danes has such a timless look and we would love to see her accentuate her slim but feminine figure. This Zac Posen gown from his Pre-Fall 2012 Collection would be absolutely ba-na-nas on her.

Tuesday Tip: That's a Wrap

What's the most versatile accessory we can think of that you can wear again and again? A wrap! With this interesting weather we've been having lately (50's in NYC, in January?!) a wrap is the perfect functional piece to throw on for effortlessly chic style.

Our wraps by V. Fraas vary from black to gold to silver, giving you basic options to transition throughout your wardrobe with no trouble at all. We think a wrap pairs beautifully over any one of our designer dresses, and love adding one of our metallic wraps to a basic LBD to add some fun! Traveling? Cozy up to our lurex wraps to not only add warmth on the flight but to look fashion forward like some of our favorite jetsetting celebs!

How will you wrap it up?

Tuesday Tip: NYE Sky-High Pony

New Year’s Eve may be the one night you can get away with three of our favorite things; a sparkly dress, a smokey eye and a statement lip! We all know this is the most photographed night of the year, and we’re guaranteeing you a fabulous profile picture to ring in 2012 in style with one of our designer picks.

So you’ve ordered the dress, but now how will you wear your hair? Have no fear, RTR has you covered!

For something out of the ordinary, we love a Kardashian-inspired sleek sky-high pony to be the perfect way to add runway flair to your already fashionable attire. To achieve this look follow a few easy steps:

1.      Add a texturizing spray to add thickness to damp hair then blowdry

2.     Flat iron if desired for extra smoothness

3.     Using paddle brush, bring hair to high pony

4.     Secure with elastic leaving a one inch section out to hide elastic

5.     Take one inch of hair and wrap around elastic securing with bobby-pin

6.     If bumps arise in front, take a comb through to smooth

7.      Add shine serum and finishing spray to complete!

With your hair in a sleek and chic pony, you can add more emphasis to that stunning statement red lip and even showcase that amazing necklace or earring that will wow them all.

With this complete look you’ll be sure to cause more attention than the ball dropping itself! Remember, this is your night to shine!
