Style Spotlight: Minka Kelly
Wed, 2011-08-31 13:57 | by AnonymousMinka Kelly first came on our radar as Lyla Garrity in Friday Night Lights (one of the greatest TV shows of all time). Although her style is much different in real life, she stuns on the red carpet and off. Having just split with Yankees star Derek Jeter, Minka's sultry and playful style is sure to attract some of hollywood's best. We take a look at some of her best looks, and how you can get them!
Minka sports this playful frock with confidence and pairs it with nude pumps. To get her look, try this Thread Social dress that accentuates the waist with an orange belt.
For a sleeker look, Minka works this black one shouldered dress. Carlos Miele is a master at beautiful silhouettes, and this LBD is no exception.
Minka goes casual with this floral frock - and you can get her look with this dress from Catherine Malandrino. Dress it up with strappy heels or dress it down like Minka with a light scarf and cardigan.
Minka has the perfect body for this Herve Leger dress, and we love the plum color. To get her look try this muted version - the perfect combination of chic and sexy.

Celebrity Chic: Jessica Chastain
Thu, 2011-08-25 14:04 | by AnonymousWe couldn't be more obsessed with The Help (book, movie, everything) and new breakout start Jessica Chastain. After starring next to Brad Pitt in The Tree of Life she caught our attention as a unbelievable talent on the silver screen and red carpet. Pretty much paradise.

Behind the Seams: Anna Sui
Mon, 2011-08-08 08:19 | by Lara Crystal
Nobody mixes girlie, trendy, and rock ‘n roll quite like Anna Sui, and we are beyond excited to add her designs to the Rent the Runway collection. Her internationally-influenced designs are known for being fun, colorful, and uniquely Anna. We went behind the seams with the designer to find out how the sixties inspire her, whether she’ll do a home collection, and more.

Tell us the story behind your latest line.
I once met the Ormsby-Gore sisters. They were the great trendsetters of 1960’s London fashion and EVERYONE followed what they wore. The first thing I wanted to know from them was: Why did the geometric “Mod” style of the early 60’s abruptly turn into the romantic “Dandy” look of the later 60’s? They explained that there was a big auction of the famous Ballets Russes costumes and sets at Sotheby's (in 1967). They couldn't afford the prima ballerina costumes so they bought up the things worn by the “corps de ballet” and started wearing them on the street. At that time, the flea market on Portobello Road was filled with Victorian things- to add into the mix of burnished velvets, antique lace, tarnished lame, gypsy fringe and jewel encrusted tulle…so these were the "stuff" you could find. The recent exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, "Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballets Russes" showed film footage of that actual auction. I just loved discovering that, pinpointing the exact moment when a spark of inspiration was the genesis for change…pop culture shifted from the early mod style of The Who, into the peacock dandy style of The Beatles.
What is something you dream of achieving but have not yet?
I’d like to do a Home collection. I’m very interested in interior design.
How would you describe your own style?
My style is not about “age”, it’s more about spirit, and attitude. My mother wears my designs, and so do my nieces (now that they have grown-up enough to fit the clothes). It’s all about having fun, making an effort, opting for a little glamour, not taking yourself so seriously.

What is your favorite fashion trend right now?
I’m liking longer skirts again this summer.
What was your proudest moment as a designer?
I won the CFDA Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
If you could give advice to aspiring designers, what would it be?
Be true to yourself. That is the key, do what you are best at and learn your craft.

This split-personality bag has Paris on one side and New York on the other and works great for carrying all of the daily essentials. The only question is, do we splurge on lambskin or go for the canvas? Either way, très chic!
Thanks to our friends at Refinery29 for finding this awesome bag!

Style Spotlight: Dianna Agron
Wed, 2011-08-03 14:47 | by AnonymousShe may spend a lot of time in super short cheerleading skirts, but in real life, Dianna Agron favors some more traditional silhouettes. You’ll rarely, if ever, catch her on the red carpet in a mini like most of her Hollywood peers. But while her style may be conservative length-wise, the Glee star does take some calculated risks to keep things interesting (see: Vintage Chanel at the 2011 SAG Awards). Her willingness to mix it up while staying committed to her own ladylike aesthetic convinced us that Ms. Agron deserved to shine in this week’s Style Spotlight.
Sporting a new, shorter do, Dianna looks glam in a black peplum sheath. Get her look in this Lela Rose dress with a bold red lip.
Dianna looks absolutely ethereal in this dove gray gown. Take note and wear this look to a benefit or black tie event this summer.
Dianna keeps her chic streak alive in this fabulous yellow dress with shoulder detailing. Get your color pop with this Thakoon dress and black accessories for a cocktail party.
Tuesday Tip: Summer Concert Edition
Tue, 2011-08-02 14:44 | by AnonymousSummer might be bikini season or wedding season, but it’s also concert season. The calendar is jam-packed with more music festivals than we can count. So many great bands, so little time. There’s nothing better than rocking out to your favorite songs live, so we’ve got your wardrobe planned out for the busy summer tour schedule. Breezy dresses are perfect concert attire, so we picked out some favorites that will let you dance and sing along until you’re hoarse.

10 Things We Love 8.1.11
Mon, 2011-08-01 17:42 | by Anonymous
1 New Kara Ross Earrings
These stunning new Kara Ross earrings are at the top of our accessory wish list.
2 Magnetic Lacquer Nail Polish
Forget neon and crackle finishes, magnetic nail polish is the next big thing in manicure trends. Mikkel loves this Nails Inc. polish that contains iron powder and comes with a magnet in the cap that you hold over each nail for a rippled effect.

3 Tim's Watermelon Bike
Everyone in the office is obsessed with Tim’s pink and green bike. He customized it himself!

4 Emerald City
These jewel toned green dresses have us dreaming of a day in Oz.
Good thing we’re not looking for careers in modeling because we would have some new competition. Premier Model Management in London just signed a supermodel cartoon named Polly Bean from the satirical comic strip, Supermodels.

6 Murder Mystery Parties
Doing her best J-WOWW for a Jersey Shore-themed party, Jenn discovered that murder mystery dinner parties are definitely where its at. Get it online here.
7 Giuliana & Bill
One of our favorite pseudo celebrity couples is back for another season and so far it promises to be just as mindless as we'd hoped.

Our intern Ashley shared this hilarious site started by her friend, and now we’re planning what “leisure pose” to perform the next time we hit the pool.

9 Shakespeare in the Park(ing) Lot
Shakespeare devotees have another venue to see their favorite plays reinterpreted. Our intern Natasha recommends seeing Hamlet at the corner of Ludlow and Broome on the Lower East Side before it closes August 13th.
10 Tartine
This quaint West Village favorite is worth the inevitable wait and in the summer its a little less crazy, so swing by on a weekend off from the hamptons. It's BYOB, and our intern Ellen adores the delicious food and cozy atmosphere.
