Thu, 2010-12-30 17:11 | by AnonymousThese are the top three must have picks from our stylists to ring in the New Year. What is your perfect pair?
Ashley
I love this Badgley Mischka dress with the oversized Heart of Glass earrings. It’s such a rich color and the earrings are the right amount of bling!
Justine
New Years should be about confidence and this Temperley London dress embodies that! I also love the little surprise on the side! Pair this with the Gimmie a Beat Clutch to make a statement.
Camille

RTR Style Spotlight: Best of 2010
Wed, 2010-12-29 17:03 | by AnonymousEach week we’ve chosen a chic celeb to shine our spotlight on, but this week we bring you the best of 2010. Check out who made the cut for the top ten most stylish celebs of 2010. Who is your favorite?
Rachel Zoe
The mother of all stylists has to be on this list. She may be small but we love that she is not afraid to shut it down. Our designer pick for Rachel: Halston Heritage.
Alexa Chung
This British import knows how to keep it cool. She never seizes to whip out something refreshing and effortless. Our choice designer: Chung in Proenza.
Olivia Palermo
This socialite doesn’t need the aid of a stylist and is still on top of her game. Palermo’s designer pick: Temperley London.
Leighton Meester
This Gossip Girl is uptown for the show and downtown for everything else. We love that she can switch back and forth in either look and know that she will do so with sass. We choose Prabal Gurung as Leighton’s designer choice.
Chloë Sevigny
She doesn’t follow trends, she makes them. Enough said. Our designer pick for Chloë: Helmut Lang.
Diane Kruger
Her simple style and minimalism detail lands her a spot on our list. Our Kruger pick: Calvin Klein Collection of course.
Rihanna
She keeps us guessing and is not afraid of taking risks. Our choice designer for Ms. Rihanna: Dannijo.
Nicole Richie
This boho babe knows how to keep it easy breezy. We can’t get enough of her prints and vintage accents. Our designer pick for Richie: Tibi.
Georgina Chapman
This fashion favorite has never been photographed in sweat pants- we are convinced that she wears cocktail dresses to the grocery store! Her impeccable eye for detail lands her on our list. Chapman in Ciner is our designer pick.
Natalie Portman
Portman finishes off our list with infallible style. She is friends with the Rodarte sisters, can do a split and never disappoints on the carpet. We h.e.a.r.t. Natalie in our designer pick- Missoni.

Tue, 2010-12-28 05:16 | by AnonymousMake sure you are on the latest accessory trends to complete your New Years look. Here are our favorites- what are your's? --Ashelyn

Blame it on Blue
Navy is the new black and blue is the new silver. If you turn heads this New Years, you know what to blame.

2 A White Christmas
Snow: inconvenient but oh-so-fun! A blanket of white covered New York City for a White Christmas this holiday. It was picturesque- perfect for caroling, warm cider and baking cookies with family and friends, which leads us to...
3 Online Shopping & Sales
Mikkel got 5 DVD's for the price of one this weekend with all of the sales that were going on! Being snowed in also made it the perfect time to spend hours on the computer with friends and choosing what to rent for NYE.
4 Legos, Legos, Legos
Daria forgot how much fun Legos were until she spent Christmas making a Buzz Lightyear with her five year-old nephew. This Lego creation is actually a digital camera, perfect for capturing all of those memories.
5 Tropical Eggnog
Nothing makes Ashelyn want to go home for the holidays more than her Mom's homemade Coquito. It's a creamy coconut eggnog made with white rum and spices. Mom won't give up her recipie but applaudes Martha Stewart's. Click here to make it at home- one real coconut optional!
6 Best. Cards. Ever.
The holidays calls for choosing the right cards. We love the cards on TinyPrints.com, a site where you can design your own cards to give that personal touch. Make yourself accountable for your New Years resolutions and send them to your friends. Don't forget Mom and Dad!
7 The Art Of Scrapbook
This book is the first ever personalized scrapboook by Cecile Beaton, one of the most influential photographers of the 20th Century. It was one of our favorite gifts this season, also functioning as a coffe table book and inspiration board.
8 Light Up the Catwalk
Remember when you had LA Gears? LED shoes are making a comeback. Our favorite pair is by Edmundo Castillo, who was inspired by Tron the movie. Light up your step when your out with the girls and plug them in when you get back to your nest egg.
9 Leftovers
Most of us look forward to holiday dinner with the family, but the real treat are the leftovers. Honey baked ham sandwich? We are all there.
10 Savvy Style
Jaime covets this jacket she found on All Saint's site. Why not be warm and fashionable? Get it while it's still on sale to wear over your NYE frock and ring in the new year brand new!
Stylists' Picks: Faves For $50 or Less
Thu, 2010-12-23 17:41 | by Lara CrystalIt's the holiday season and it pays to be a little thrifty. Read on to find out which fashions our stylists favor - for $50 and less!
Justine
I love this great blue color - such a great find for only $50!
Rachel
These are definitely my favorite earrings on RTR, and it just so happens they rent for only $35. Edgy and sophisticated, they're the perfect addition to my LBD.
Emily
There's nothing better than a black dress that fits well and works anywhere. This Shoshanna one is modest and modern at the same time.
Alissa
I've been looking for some gifts that are under $50 and this bracelet from our sale is just perfect! At only $43 I might buy one for myself too...
Ashley
I love the beading detail of this dress - somehow it makes a bright red style bohemian. At just $50 it's easy to justify splurging for some matching accessories.
Camille
This bracelet is just so beautiful - all of us stylists find it suggesting it to customers all the time because its universally adored and only $30!
RTR Style Spotlight: Reese Witherspoon
Wed, 2010-12-22 06:41 | by Anonymous
“How Do You Know” opened last week, and Reese Witherspoon stepped back into the style spotlight . The girl next door was not only stylish throughout the movie but has always been stylish on the red carpet. She certainly knows how to walk the line of fashion! Below we bring you some of the best Reese looks - the RTR way. Which one do you love?
Racy Reese
Reese looked oh-so- chic in this LBD. The lace on the bottom gives it a little twist that we absolutely love, adding just the right amount of racy. To get this look, dress up the Moschino Cheap and Chich Death by Seduction Dress with the Erickson Beamon Chrysler Earrings.
Refined Reese
Reese shines in this golden dress, looking simple yet sophisticated. She gets two thumbs up for pairing it with a perfect bronze clutch in the same color family. Steal her look with the Nicole Miller Drop Dead Gorgeous Gown and Carlos Falchi clutch.
Radiant Reese
Although Reese shies away from prints, she looked radiant in this pop of color and floral print. Wear your take on this look in this D&G dress and RJ Graziano Light Up Earrings.
Style Me: What to Wear to Stay Warm
Tue, 2010-12-21 18:53 | by Lara CrystalWinter has officially begun. It may be cold outside, but you don’t have to sacrifice for style! Make sure you stay warm with these helpful tips.
Tip 1: Wear a dress with sleeves (see ours here) and accessorize accordingly
Long sleeved looks can be just as formal as sleeveless if styled correctly. Our favorite way to wear it is with a big statement necklace and fun colored pumps.
Style Inspiration: Rachel Roy

Tip 2: Proportions are pivotal when it comes to layering
If the dress is mid-thigh, wear a layer over it that lands right past your hips. A thin, wool cardigan works well. If you want to wear something short, opt for a shrug or bolero that will hit the silhouette under the bust.
Style Inspiration: Keira Knightley

Tip 3: Let your legs do the talking
Sometimes its best to pick a LBD and let your legs do the talking. This season there’s some great patterns to be found everywhere from American Apparel to Neiman Marcus (and our faves here).
Style Inspiration: Kourtney Kardashian

What are your tips for staying warm and looking effortless? Share them with us in the comments!
3 Ways: NYE Edition!
Tue, 2010-12-21 18:03 | by Lara CrystalStill finalizing NYE plans? Join the club. But there is one thing we know for sure: No matter where you are, the dress says it all. Here's 3 of our favorite trends and fortune cookie proverbs for the new year to boot. Are you a sequins girl, a bandage babe, or white hottie?
Success in Sequins
Wearing sequins into 2011 is for the brave, but they will be rewarded with success if they take on the challenge.
Blessings for Bandages
Those who dare to wear Herve Leger will be rewarded with many blessings in 2011.
Winner in White
Next year it’s all about taking risks- those in white when the clock strikes midnight will be winners in 2011.

WWD had some of our fave designers create sketches for the bride to be. We’ve all heard the rumors but which one do you like best? [Styleite]
Carine Roitfeld Leaving French Vogue
The editor in chief of French Vogue, Carine Roitfeld is leaving after the March 2011 issue. She states she is only leaving because she feels it’s time to “do something different” after being a fashion editor for 10 years. Rumor has it she doesn’t have any plans for what the next step is, but someone will need to replace her. Who do you think should be her successor? [Fashionista]
PG's Chic Card
Derek wanted to share this as an added extra to enlighten your day. We officially think it's the chicest holiday card ever. Thanks Prabal Gurung for the card and happy holidays!

Great Minds Think Alike
Thu, 2010-12-16 18:54 | by AnonymousAs I walked into the Badgley Mischka showroom this morning for my market appointment, I was greeted by Mark Badgley wearing a piece of trim from the Fall 2011 collection he was working on. It was a vibrant purple grosgrain belt and he noticed my purple scarf (if you are not in NYC the weather has been brutally frigid) and we discovered our mutual love for the Purple, Black and White trio of colors. James Mischka then walked by all in black and we decided we must take a group photo to show our color coordination. What are your favorite color combinations? -Derek
Stylists’ Picks: NYE Here We Come
Thu, 2010-12-16 18:39 | by AnonymousLast week we asked our stylists what they were doing for the holidays, but this week we asked them what they were wearing to take on the New Year. What’s your favorite look for 2011?
Justine
The Hourglass LBD by Peter Soronen paired with the Bassett Necklace by Dannijo is the perfect mix of rock and sultry glam for my New Years Eve night out at Madison Square Garden.
Rachel
The D&G Leopard Looker Dress is the perfect 'Sexy Feel' dress to start off my New Years resolution- Its time for me to step out of my shell and start living more dangerously! I’m completing my look with the Gold Rain Earrings.
Emily
I plan on dancing the night away in the Studio 54 Statement Dress and Judith Leiber Disco Inferno Bag and I dare someone to try to get me out of the groove!
Alissa
Since I am not keen on sequins, this dress is the perfect alternative for a stand out NYE dress. I am going to wear the Shoshanna dress with the Elizabeth Cole's Metallic Chain Bracelet and my vintage long chain purse for a sassy but classy look!
Ashley
I’m kicking off the New Year in style in the Lela Rose Retro Brocade Dress - it's a Rent the Runway exclusive and that’s exactly how I want to feel for the New Years… one of a kind! I’m pairing it with the Badgley Mischka Showstopper Earrings. Can’t wait!
Camille
For this New Year's party, I'm wearing the Metallic Mystique Dress and Corbine Earrings--a perfect combination of glitter, sexiness and sophistication--I wouldn't want to start off 2011 in anything else!

Fashion Show Round Up!
Wed, 2010-12-15 02:18 | by AnonymousAthens, Georgia is officially our most fashionable college town this fall. Our rock star team of runway reps at the University of Georgia has ignited RTR on campus with girls renting for everything from game day to winter formal. We interviewed Runway Rep Team Manager, Mary Mitchell to learn more about their initiatives on campus including the philanthropy fashion show that kicked off the semester in style. Below are Mary Mitchell’s tips for planning a fashion show on your campus.
1 Partner With a Great Cause
Team with a student run philanthropy that your campus is passionate about and allow all ticket proceeds to go to that cause. UGA HEROs involves more than 2,000 students and the fashion show raised over $1,000 for the organization.
2 Book a Cool Venue
When traditional on campus locations were already booked for our date, local artist Stan Mullin donated his fabulous art studio barn for the fashion show. We improvised to create a runway using tea lights and borrowed chairs from our sorority houses.
3 Model Casting
We invited one representative from each sorority volunteer to model so that their entire chapters would come out to support them! We also worked with student fashion organizations on campus that have experience in casting models.
4 Styling and Production
We partnered with Boulevard, a local fashion magazine to produce the fashion show and run all back stage production. A local salon also donated stylists to get the models runway ready.
5 Music and Entertainment
The fashion show is a short 15-20 minutes, so we invited a local band to open the night. Their performance was followed by a live DJ that spun for the actual catwalk show.
6 Programs and Swag Bags
We printed programs to highlight all of the designers featured in the show, the models walking, and the organizations that donated their services. We even placed swag bags in the front row, so the first students to arrive would get an extra treat.
7 Celebrity Guests
Surprise guests are a great perk to any fashion show. We invited four football players to escort models down the runway for game day looks.
8 Public Relations
We worked with our student newspaper and many local fashion blogs to promote the event and increase awareness about RTR and our cause.
9 Results
Rentals in Athens have continued to increase each month after the show, so all of our hard work and planning paid off!
3 Ways to Add Color to that LBD
Tue, 2010-12-14 18:16 | by AnonymousWe all have that little black dress that we absolutely love- owned or rented. No need to let go of that go-to dress for the holidays, all you need is a little innovation! Jenn and Jenny have chosen their top three choices for sprucing up that never-let-me-go dress. What are yours?
This cuff turns up the notch on any LBD. It looks so to die for with these Kenneth Jay Lane Earrings and was featured in Sex and the City 2!
The Carlos Falchi clutches are great additions to any dress, but pairing this blue one with the Starburst Earrings and an LBD makes a statement.
These Dannijo Cecile Love Earrings are amazing with your hair pulled back and a simple LBD. Pair it with this ring and bring the look together!
Style Me: Holidays with His Parents
Tue, 2010-12-14 13:21 | by AnonymousThis year you will be spending time with your beau’s parents. On one hand you’re excited- it’s a big step! On the other hand this has now presented a little problem… what are you going to wear? Don’t fret! Follow our tips and you will make the perfect impression.
Tip 1: Drinks with the girls and holidays with his parents are very different occasions. Dress more on the conservative side for the holidays with his family. Chances are the pictures that are taken will be shown to other family members as they discuss how wonderful you are.
Tip 2: Do not change who you are. The worst thing you can do is be uncomfortable around his parents and lead them to believe you are anything but your fabulous self. You should wear something a little more conservative, but be comfortable and don’t try too hard! Relax and be you.
Tip 3: Less is more. If you are over thinking your outfits, have changed several times and have thought about your hair and makeup for longer than it takes to get ready, before you walk out look in the mirror and take one thing off. Whether it is one accessory or you tone down your lipstick, they want to see you and there is no need to be overdone.
These are some of our favorite looks for spending the holidays with his family. Did we miss any? Tell us in the comments!

I love this dress because the silhouette is incredibly chic, but effortless at the same time. The Elizabeth Cole Old School Glamour Earrings provide a bold statement, creating a focal point against the simple black dress. Pair it with simple black pumps and you're out the door in 5 minutes flat!
Rachel, Palm Beach Holiday
I can’t wait to slip into the new D&G Cookies N' Cream Dress for my grandma’s annual holiday party in Palm Beach Gardens. I love wearing her vintage earrings, but she might want to snatch these Lee Angel earrings from me!

Style Spotlight: Natalie Portman
Wed, 2010-12-08 17:00 | by AnonymousWith all of the commotion surrounding Black Swan, we couldn’t help but focus our attention on Natalie Portman. She is always ahead of the curve on the red carpet, and the self proclaimed fashion enthusiast never misses a beat! No one can master proportions like petite Portman (she’s only 5’2”!) and her confidence carries her through this week’s Style Spotlight. Which look is your favorite Perfect Portman look? --Ashelyn
Perfect Portman 1: Sequin Stunner
Does mini length sequin and feather dress with disco ball earrings sound like a fashion don’t? Not on Natalie! She scores extra fashion points for pulling off this look. Try it for your next event with this Badgley Mischka dress and CC Skye Mini Jagger Earrings.
Perfect Portman 2: Radiant Ruby Red
For one of the international Black Swan premiers Portman wore this radiant red dress with a statement clutch and a smokey eye. Pull your hair back and take on the paparazzi in the Lady Love Gown and Kara Ross Rarr Clutch.
Perfect Portman 3: Be the Black Swan
We should’ve known that Portman was going to play a ballerina in a movie when she wore this look to the Vanity Fair Oscar party last year! The length of the dress accentuates her petite frame and the fitted bodice shows off her figure. Be Black Swan worthy at your next event in this Haute Hippie dress and Judith Leiber Lady Duchess Bag.

Style Me: The Black Tie Event
Tue, 2010-12-07 19:05 | by Lara Crystal
So you've been invited to an event and the invitation says "Black Tie" - what does it all mean?
We’ve asked our stylists to interpret all that "Black Tie" entails - plus, they've even put together some of their favorite looks. What will you be wearing for your formal event this season?
Tip 1: Black Tie does not necessarily mean floor length. In fact, we've been at black tie events where the majority of women were in short dresses (granted, we live in NYC and we see Gaga-esque outfits on the regular), but there's plenty of appropriate dressy options that aren't gowns. When in doubt, ask the host what she's wearing. If there's no clues to be found, you're safe in a long dress, but these days almost anything goes!
Tip 2: Accessorize to kill. In our humble opinion, accessories make the woman. You could wear the LBD in your closet with the right clutch, earrings, and necklace. Earrings are a particularly powerful place to make a statement.
Tip 3: Navy is the new black. We embrace color at all times, but even for those who normally shy away from it, navy is a sophisticated option for formal events. We particularly love mixing navy dresses with black accessories for an uber chic look.

Behind the Seams: Badgley Mischka
Mon, 2010-12-06 12:02 | by AnonymousAll hail Badgley Mischka, the kings of glitz and glam. They’ve built their brand on show-stopping gowns that scream old Hollywood elegance. For the past 22 years, business and life partners, Mark Badgley and James Mischka have worked to expand their empire to include fragrance, sunglasses and some of the most decadent jewelry you can find. I had the pleasure of sitting down with them in their gorgeous Manhattan showroom to go behind the scenes with one of fashion’s most fabulous duos!
What inspired your Spring 2011 collections?
We kind of went back to when we first started Badgley Mischka 22 years ago and were inspired by this film called White Mischief from 1988. Very stylish movie, so beautiful. It’s about a bunch of English ex-pats living in South Africa. The characters were very stylish and decadent. Morning, day and night they wore evening clothes. So we merged that with the feeling of the 70s which is such an important trend this season. And that was the vibe for spring! more...

Friday Fashion Fun: Updates on FNO, Escada, & Judith Leiber Fragrance!
Wed, 2010-12-01 15:45 | by AnonymousHappy Friday! Here is a recap on all of the latest news in the fashion universe. Don't forget to share what you loved! --Ashelyn
3rd Annual Fashion’s Night Out!
It’s official! There will be a third FNO scheduled on Thursday, September 8, 2011. We can’t wait to see what Matthew Williamson, Helmut Lang, Catherine Malandrino and more will have in store for us! What do you think they should do? [The Cut]
Judith Leiber Fragrance
Celebrity crystal clutches are the favorite “3 C’s” at RTR but that’s not all the label wants to make us swoon over. We caught wind that there is a Judith Leiber fragrance in the works and (literally) jumped for joy. Do you think it will come in a celebrity worthy crystal perfume bottle? [WWD]
New Designer for Escada?
Last year Megha Mittal acquired Escada, one of the coveted brands in the RTR family. So far, she’s done wonders with the label and we are even most excited for Escada’s upcoming collaboration with London designer Jonathan Saunders. Saunders is known most for bright and crisp prints… what do you want to see him create? [Fashionista]
