P.S. These also make amazing gifts!!
These magic sized Hanky Panky low rise thongs are not only cute and comfortable, but completely seamless! You can’t see them through your dress and take it from us- you can’t even feel them!
Lifesaver in Your Wallet
Hollywood Fashion Tape is one of the best ideas in fashion. It will keep your strapless dress up, fix an unraveling hem, keep a strap from falling and keep a cami in place. We recommend that you keep it in your wallet in case you are having a fashion emergency. At $9 you can’t afford not to have it!
Slim Slimma
Want to know how the stars get that red carpet ready? Spanx under every dress! These body slimmers can be worn under anything and everything and stretch for maximum comfort. No need to hold your breath while posing!
It’s a fact. Everyone needs solid black tights. Combining a fab pair of black tights with the comfort and slimming effect of Spanx is genius. Feel free to check out the other Spanx tights we have to offer- you can never have too many!

RTR Style Spotlight: Anne Hathaway
Tue, 2010-11-30 18:17 | by AnonymousThis week’s style spotlight has to shine on the Disney princess turned red carpet maven, Anne Hathaway. After seeing Love and Other Drugs, we had an even bigger crush on her and can’t wait to see what she wears while hosting the Oscars next year. These are some of our favorite Haute Hathaway looks, au natural and strapless of course. What is your favorite? --Ashelyn
Haute Hathaway 1: Sultry Sleek
In this iridescent floor length gown she's looking very sultry sleek. You can get her look with the Chris Benz Life of the Party Gown and Ciner Sparkly Silver Swirl Cuff.
Haute Hathaway 2: Femme Fatale
This is by far one of the best LBD we’ve seen on her! Try this femme fatale look with the Adam Jeweled Empire Dress and the Kenneth Jay Lane Black Tie Bracelet.
Haute Hathaway 3: Pop of Color
Every now and then Hathaway will surprise us in a bright colored dress. With this dress she earned a gold star! Get the look in the Lela Rose Couture Wave Dress and Carlos Falchi Bronze Bombshell Clutch.

Style Me: Dresses with Tights
Tue, 2010-11-30 12:28 | by AnonymousSo you rented a dress last month and you want to wear it to your best friend’s dinner party except there’s one teeny tiny issue… this time around it’s 40 degrees out! We’ve asked our stylists (and our customers!) what their tips are for wearing dresses with tights.
Tip 1: We love short dresses but in 40 degree weather there is such a thing as too short. Pair a short or mini length dress with tights to avoid a fever. The shorter the dress the darker the tights!
Tip 2: Choose a dress that doesn’t scream summer! A dress in a neutral or metallic color can be disguised as part of a fall/winter season.
Tip 3: Static cling = zero fun at a party. When humidity decreases, static will increase because the air is dry. Wear a moisturizer on your legs before putting on your tights and try to wear a natural made fiber- wool, cotton or silk. Natural made fibers produce less static. Thanks mother nature!
Tip 4: Have control. Just because you are adding a piece to your look doesn’t mean it needs to add bulk or show. We love Spanx tights, especially ones with details. They slim you down and make your legs look longer.
These are a couple of our favorite dresses that can be worn with or without tights. Which one is yours?
3 Ways: 3 Accessories from Day to Night
Tue, 2010-11-30 10:56 | by AnonymousWith so many places to go and little time to change in between, a girl just wants to breeze through her day. These are the three accessories our stylists recommend that are perfect for day to night looks. Which one would you wear for your appearances throughout the holidays? --Ashelyn
Wow Earrings
The Dannijo Finley Earrings are the perfect pair to take you from day to night. All you have to do is put your hair up and apply smokey eye shadow to your look!
Bling Bracelet
The secret to the Chamak Black Ice Bangle Set is to wear them in moderation. Wear one or two during the day to add a hint of bling and keep adding more into the evening until you’re all blinged out!
Not Your Average Necklace
The Trudelle Laker 50’s Inspired Necklace is ideal for wearing from day to night. It has an art deco feel that can be funky for day and still fashionable for night. It’s also a great necklace to layer with so you can add on more glam!
RTR Weekend Box Office Review
Mon, 2010-11-29 17:08 | by Lara CrystalOur team consumed a lot of media this holiday weekend keeping busy at the box office. Here's what our critics had to say about the movies this weekend - and the fashions they featured!
Love & Other Drugs

If you are looking for a light hearted rom com, Love and Other Drugs will sit heavier than that third helping of leftovers you really should have said no to. That said, the movie is just the right combination of highly unlikely (can love really change a super sexy cad like Gyllenhall's character Jaime?), sexy and emotionally manipulative...a perfect combination for the holiday season! We left feeling touched (and a touch depressed, but in a good way). Survey says, if you liked 500 Days of Summer, you will probably love Love and Other Drugs.
Fashion review: Since Anne Hathaway spent most of her time in the buff, there wasn't too much in the way of fashion. Here's some sexy dresses to turn up the heat if you're in the less is more camp.
Burlesque

Burlesque is 100 minutes of pure fun. While the basic dialogue may lack poetic resonance; the music, sets and costumes more than make up for it. Cher plays the nightclub owner and does a great job acting as "mom" to all the girls and guys who work at "Burlesque." At 64 she is still an amazing performer, and in one scene declares "you haven't seen the last of me" in the refrain of a song. I hope we never do.
Fashion review:
Over the top fabulous. Here's some "Burlesque" themed looks that will guarantee an attentive audience.

RTR Style Spotlight: Eva Mendes
Tue, 2010-11-23 21:25 | by AnonymousThis week’s RTR Style Spotlight shines on Eva Mendes. Three words- polished, sensual and sophisticated are what Eva embodies and we just can’t get enough. These are our favorite looks and how to rock them in RTR. What’s your favorite Eva look? –Ashelyn
Look 1: Play on Polka Dots
We love the way she wore polka dots to this event! She let the dress do the talking and was minimal with the rest of her look. You can try this for your next event with the Prabal Gurung Polka Dot Perfection Dress and AV Max Metallic Silver Stack.
Look 2: Champagne Lux
Eva makes lux look easy in this dress… it looks like a bottle of champagne should be named after this look! Wait for the cameras in the Haute Hippie Beaded Fringe Tank Dress and Lee Angel Pearl and Crystal Ring.
Look 3: Bold in Black
The Milly Kimono-me Dress and Judith Leiber Gold Fortune Cookie Clutch make for the quintessential bold in black Eva statement.
Look 4: Envy Me Green
Seeing Eva in this dress makes anyone green with envy. Have all eyes on you in the Temperley London Emerald City Gown and Miriam Haskell Egyptian Eclipse Earrings.
Look 5: Cool in Cota
Eva is one of our favorites because she only hangs out with the top designers. Here she is pictured at the CFDA awards with RTR featured designer Christian Cota in his Painted Parallel Sheath- an RTR favorite! Pair it with the Cara Geometric Rhinestone Headband to complete the look.
Holiday Hits: Our Faves for the Holidays
Tue, 2010-11-23 19:08 | by AnonymousWe’ve posted so many new styles this week, our stylists couldn’t help but share what their faves! What are you dying to rent?
Ashley, Stylist
“Bring any look to the next level this winter with Carlos Falchi's Vanilla Latte Clutch...sassy, sparkly and sophisticated!”
Camille, Stylist

Melissa, Stylist
“The Cloud in the Sky Clutch is the perfect pop of color that can take any outfit to the next level!”
Rachel, Stylist
“Why not experience the power of a golden goddess? Slip into this Golden Sparrow Dress and all attention will gravitate towards you!”

Style Me: Work Appropriate Holiday Dresses
Tue, 2010-11-23 14:45 | by AnonymousIt’s almost December and holiday events are filling up your calendar! You already know what you are renting for events hosted by your friends and family but there is one dress that always stumps you. Every. Single. Year. The work event dress.
We’ve asked our stylists to choose their favorite dresses that stand out, are stylish and appropriate for a work event, and also got them to share their best tips for pulling together your look!
Tip 1: A dress can only be two of three: fitted, low cut and above the knee. Follow this rule. If you wear a dress above the knee, make sure it doesn’t have a plunging neckline. This is the first step for a sophisticated choice.
Tip 2: Choose a dress you feel comfortable wearing. Don’t wear a dress that you will be pulling up all night or something you think you can’t breathe in. Remember, you are there to have fun and may be photographed!
Tip 3: Wear the right undergarments! It may be the right dress, but the wrong undergarments can make the dress look completely wrong. Our stylists suggest wearing Spanx, NuBras and Hanky Pankys as no fail options.
Tip 4: Don’t be afraid of color! Just because you are attending a work event doesn’t mean you have to wear black. Experiment with brighter colors and patterns and opt for subtle make up and classic jewelry.
What are you renting for your work event? Share your choices in the comments!
3 Ways Challenge: Same Dress, 3 Events!
Mon, 2010-11-22 20:45 | by AnonymousWith so many places to go for the holidays- not to mention all the photos to be taken (eeek!)- we want to make sure you stand out! We racked our brains to answer this question… how would you wear the same dress to three different events? Take a look at what we thought and share how you would’ve worn it.
Mission: Wear the same dress in three different ways for the holidays.
Dress: Laila Azhar Indigo Fireworks Dress
Event 1: Holiday dinner party hosted by Mr. Right's friends
Daria: I’m wearing this dress with black booties, Erickson Beamon Heart of Glass Earrings and Dangerous Liasons Bracelet. It’s a perfect outfit for a dinner party hosted by my beau’s friends! This dress is fitted but understated and the print gives it personality.
Event 2: Photo heavy family dinner
Camille: I wanted to wear something that wasn’t too dressy and that I could dress down a bit. This dress photographs so well and has stretch, so I’m not self conscious about dinner. Try it with the Anton Heunis Vintage Flower Drop Necklace, Chan Luu Silver Gwen Wrap Bracelet, blazer, suede boots and the darkest of Spanx tights to complete your look.
Event 3: Secret Santa mixer with the girls
Ashelyn: This dress is ideal for the Secret Santa mixer that I’m hosting with my friends. I can run around in it while I’m preparing all of the hors d’oeuvre and take my jacket off when we decide to go out! I paired it with CC Skye Pave Stud Earrings, two CC Skye Pave Pyramid Stud Bracelets, lace up boots and a leather belt and jacket.
Success!

Rent the Runway at Boutiques.com
Thu, 2010-11-18 18:21 | by AnonymousUnless you’ve been living under a fashion rock, you must have noticed the launch of a fabulous site yesterday – Boutiques.com – Google’s answer to personalized shopping and search. To be honest, I’m not much of a Googler (as much as any person who uses a computer on a frequent basis can be a non-Googler); I tend to know the urls of all my favorite online haunts AND I prefer plain-old chic to tech-geek. That said, boutiques.com has me changing my tune. The site combines the best of ShopStyle.com, Polyvore and Amazon and it allows me to connect with sites where I love to shop like net-a-porter and Saks. Specifically, I can create my own online boutique customized to my personal style. Girls – it’s not often I’ll give an endorsement of another shopping-related site (selfishly) so this is BIG.
Boutiques.com hasn’t opened up rental as a category quite yet – but hopefully they will so all of you can determine which wow-looks you’d want to rent the runway for that special occasion and which wardrobe staples you'd prefer to purchase. The Boutiques.com launch party last night brought a little bit of Palo Alto to Hudson Street, which made the event refreshing. Any event that sports the Olsens, Isaac Mizrahi, Tom Florio, the fabulous teams from Milly, Catherine Malandrino, and Tibi, plus a tattoo artist and Kelly Osborne is bound to be fun! See a favorite photo below from a live chess board Google had set-up in the middle of the party and one of the Google girls wearing Rent the Runway – which they all did. – Jenn Hyman

Rachel’s trend: Rock N Roll Rebel
These tough pieces are for the girl who knows how to talk the talk and walk the walk. Be a rebel in the Erickson Beamon Supernova Cuff, and command the attention of any room.
Melissa’s trend: Ice Ice Baby
Bling is always in. If I could wear the Rodrigo Otazu Insanely Chic Crystal Cuff every day, I would! It’s perfect for going out with the girls or dressing up a black dress for a work event.
Emily’s trend: Prim & Proper
You can never go wrong with a perfect pearl. These Miriam Haskell Power Pearl Earrings are my favorite prim and proper piece… they are classy with any look!
Camille’s trend: Warhol Whirlwind
Warhol took the world over and I can still channel him in current fashion. This Judith Leiber Lovestruck Bag takes me back to The Factory and can be worn to any party throughout the season.
Ashley’s trend: Sweet Like Candy
Fun and colorful jewelry is a must for me. The Tuleste Market Colorful Confetti Earrings make me feel like a kid in a candy store! They are my go to earrings for any jewel toned dress for the holidays!

Easy Pack Dresses for Thanksgiving
Wed, 2010-11-17 14:08 | by AnonymousNo one likes a wrinkled dress and who has the time to look at fabric content for suitcase ready fashion? We’ve done the work for you and have compiled a list of the easiest to pack dresses for your Thanksgiving travels. Remember, you can also have your dress sent to your travel destination so you won’t run into any luggage limit issues at the airport (read: pack as many shoes as you want)! Here's the rundown:
Wool and Stretch Knit
Fold a light wool fabric for a day or two and you won’t see a wrinkle, and with the lines on the bottom of the Helmut Lang Geo Print Dress, you can fool anyone. As for a stretch knit, the Camila and Marc Ruched and Famous Dress is ruched so it can hide any creases. Added plus- it’s a small dress, so just fold it in half and go!
Tweed and Matte Jersey
Tweed is a great fabric for packing since it’s the least likely to wrinkle. We love the Lela Rose Galaxy Tweed Dress because of the added shine and festive print. Matte jersey might get a crease or two during travel, but since the fabric is light, just hang up the Escada Foxy Kimono Dress in the bathroom while you shower and the steam will take the wrinkles out no problem.
Something Sapphire
Wed, 2010-11-17 12:29 | by AnonymousRTR loyalists know that we’ve been loving sapphire all season, and the royal engagement across the pond only solidifies this gem as holiday’s hottest jewel tone. We’re officially on Kate Middleton style watch as she prepares for the wedding of the century and we love Janis Savitt’s Starburst Earrings for a modern take on her heirloom ring. Pair it with a blue dress for a look that’s fit for a queen. – Brooke
We suggest these Christian Siriano and Catherine Malandrino dresses to pull off Middleton’s look!
Celebrity Chic: Julianne Moore
Wed, 2010-11-17 12:09 | by AnonymousLast night as we were searching for comic relief, we turned to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Surprise! The lovely Julianne Moore was wearing one of our Nina Ricci styles. Did you like her look? Tell us in the comments and snag her look for the holidays! --Ashelyn
RTR Style Spotlight: Blake Lively
Wed, 2010-11-17 02:24 | by AnonymousWe all love Gossip Girl, and Blake Lively’s fashion is nothing but spectacular on and off camera. We chose to shine our RTR spotlight on Lively for her bold yet simple all American style. Here’s a lineup of our favorite Lively Looks and how you can wear them too. --Ashelyn
Lively Look 1: Basic Black
There is nothing wrong with a basic black dress, as long as it looks divine. We love Lively in this polished look- just slick your hair back, stand up straight and pout a pink lip! Recreate this look with our Black Halo Jackie O Dress and Badgley Mischka Showstopper Earrings.
Lively Look 2: Perfectly Asymmetrical
Who says you can’t do one shoulder? With a strong asymmetric neckline and statement ring and you can look your Liveliest! Try the Yigal Azrouel Very Violet Draped Dress and Erickson Beamon Princess Leia Ring.
Lively Look 3: Ruby Red
This delightfully dangerous look is perfect for the holidays. Pair the bright dress with trendy black jewelry and you’ll be ready for your close up. We suggest the Lela Rose Sands of Mars Dress and Dannijo Daryn Earrings.
Lively Look 4: Less is More
We love this uncomplicated look because it’s no fuss and all glamour. Feel at ease and gorgeous in the Halston Heritage Sensational Sequin Dress and add a pop of color with our Kenneth Jay Lane Jade Drop Earrings.
RTR Goes Melrose
Tue, 2010-11-16 19:36 | by Lara CrystalCall me Melrose obsessed, but I grew up with only two posters of teen heartthrobs on my wall (well they weren't teens but I was aspiring to be:) - Keanu Reaves and Andrew Shue! Earlier this year, one dream came true when I met Keanu Reeves unexpectingly- we bought his office furniture and he showed up to deliver it to us, which was quite a shock!
Today - dream #2. Andrew Shue stopped by our office to talk shop and of course we couldn't resist snapping a pic! The star of Melrose Place has kept himself busy as founder of CafeMom and I must mention is still totally adorable! I hope after completely embarassing him in such a public way, he will continue to want to partner with RTR! -- Jenn

Style Me: Fitted Dresses For Thanksgiving Dinner
Tue, 2010-11-16 16:53 | by AnonymousWe've all been there: the best part of Thanksgiving is your grandma’s homemade stuffing, gravy and pie. Can you look chic and be comfortable at the same time? Not to worry! Our stylists have the run down on how to wear fitted dresses for a big Thanksgiving dinner.
Tip 1: Wear a dress with lots of stretch. Stretchy dresses will breathe and expand with you, so you won’t have to worry about feeling constricted during dinner.
Tip 2: Ruching, ruching, ruching! Dresses with ruching distract the eye from the midsection and attract attention to the outline of your curves. Why do you think the Kardashian’s wear it all the time?
Tip 3: Choose dresses that have more of an open neckline so that there is more exposed on the upper half of your body. If the dress has a higher neckline, wear a statement necklace or statement earrings to balance out the look and distract the eye.
These are some of our best fitted dresses for Thanksgiving dinner. Do you have a tip? Share it in our comments!

3 Ways: Casual Thanksgiving Looks
Tue, 2010-11-16 11:27 | by AnonymousPumpkin pie, midday naps and way too much to eat… Thanksgiving is here! Just because you are staying in for the holidays doesn’t mean you have to be in sweats (remember, the neighbors are coming over). Here are a couple of our favorite casual Thanksgiving looks to keep you fashionable throughout the feast. Which one is your favorite? --Ashelyn
This dress is so comfortable you can go from the dining table to the couch for your post meal nap. If you are heading somewhere chilly, layer it with a Rebecca Taylor fur vest and some flat boots for a country casual look.
Worried about showing a Thanksgiving Tummy? Wear this sheath to cover it up and go ahead and take a second serving. We suggest flats and tights to keep it cute and casual.
This is the dress you want to wear just in case your childhood crush is stopping by for dinner! The jersey material on this dress makes it stretchy and comfortable, but it is still fitted and sexy. Complete your look with the Gwen Wrap Bracelet to add a dash of bling.

Sequins for the Season
Thu, 2010-11-11 13:28 | by Lara CrystalNow that the stylists have shared their picks, I wanted to offer a few of my own. With holiday party season heating up, every girl has their eye on some sparkly sequin dresses. I've been honing in on two of our newest pieces that are simply party perfect. These sequin dresses are both unique, easy to wear and very figure flattering.
The gold Tibi Confetti Sequins Dress is a mini dress with a great shape - perfect for shimmy-ing the night away on the dance floor. The blue Gryphon Casino Royal Dress offers a slightly longer sheath option that looks works well with high boots. I love them both, but we've got plenty of other sequin styles to choose from. Which one is your favorite? -- Lara

Win the perfect fall jewels to dress up your look!

_______________________________________________________________________________
Where do you turn for amazing designer pieces this holiday season? Try Ciner, a company founded 119 years ago, that is still family owned and operated and is steadfastly dedicated to creating splendid jewelry that is as durable as it is glamorous. We went behind the scenes with the Ciner team to get the inside scoop on one of the oldest jewelry companies.
What words would you use to describe Ciner?
Elegant, timeless, unique, exquisitely made, glamorous, classic, sophisticated.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Here at Ciner we value tradition and thus we get a lot of our inspiration from estate jewelry and heirloom treasures. We love mixing the old with the new to create an updated and modern look.
What materials do you use?
We use a combination of semi-precious, Swarovski and Czech stones. All pearls are fresh water and we adore mixed media including velvet, silk ribbon and cord.
Every stone is hand set and every pearl is hand strung and knotted. Each piece is finished with an 18 karat gold plated process that withstands the test of time.
What is the process used to create these magnificent pieces?
Each piece can take up to one week to complete once the design process has begun. We have archives that date back to our founding date of 1892. First we take a model from this archive and create a unique mold in the casting machine. We then sotter the piece, polish it and plate it. The plating process is a tedious process and each piece is dipped into 25 buckets filled with copper, nickel, rhodium and lastly gold! Once the piece is plated, the stones are hand set and laid to dry. At last, the fabulous timeless piece is completed.
What are your favorite things about working at Ciner?
We have all worked here for over 30 years and consider each other family. Since this is a family owned business we try to continue this tradition each generation. The creativity here is endless with all of the possibilities to make pieces that have history but are also modern. Our tremendous enthusiasm has allowed Ciner to thrive throughout the years.
Glamour's WOTY Awards 2010
Tue, 2010-11-09 16:34 | by Lara CrystalLast night, some of us at RTR had the amazing pleasure of attending the Glamour Women of the Year Awards and we were completely blown away. The quality of women in the room was overwhelming with inspirational stories from Julia Roberts, Queen Rania, Cher, Constance McMillen, Donatella Versace and more (and did we mention OPRAH??!!!).
It’s difficult to compare them, but by far one of the most touching was the story of Dr. Hawa Abdi and her daughters. Dr. Abdi has been working through bleak conditions in Somalia since 1983 as one of the only rays of hope in a horrific humanitarian crisis. Her efforts have grown from a one-room clinic on her family farm to a camp housing approximately 90,000 people, and she continues to press on. Last year, when her camp was seized and she was taken hostage, she was told "Women can't do things like this." Her response to the Islamic miltants: "What have you done for society?"
Dr. Abdi’s story is truly astounding and speaks to the power of women and hope (a message we are proud to support on the 1st anniversary of Rent the Runway, a company founded by women and for women!). If you are interested in learning more, you can go to glamour.com or to make a donation to help support her fantastic work, please click here. -- Lara

Behind the Seams: Catherine Malandrino
Fri, 2010-11-05 09:45 | by Daria BurkeWhere do you turn for effortless chic? If you’re like us, you go to Catherine Malandrino. She brings a dramatic flair to otherwise classic silhouettes, with sex appeal to spare. Her Spring 2011 collection was no different: strong but feminine looks and fabulous abstract prints. We went behind the scenes with Catherine to learn more about the role art plays in her designs, what’s new in 2011 and how she gives soul to her clothes.

What inspired your Spring 2011 collection?
I drew much inspiration from my time in the South of France – most notably from Roger Capon, a ceramist from the artist’s town of Vallauris. For Spring, I emphasized a clean shape and unique craftsmanship such as crackled leather and washed tones reminiscent of a pottery glaze. The silhouette is loose and effortless like easy days spent along the French seaside.
What new concepts or materials did you introduce in this collection?
I wanted to give a soul to the clothes so I experimented with a lot of distress techniques like washing and tie dye that evokes the effect of clay. I experimented with basket weave and macramé and contrasts with distressed silk and linen.

Which part of the design process do you like the best?
The fitting process. From an idea, the garment becomes alive.
How is the Catherine Malandrino brand growing in 2011?
We will have a very unique collaboration with Lacoste. The Lacoste + Malandrino collection will celebrate an unexpected marriage of an everyday French brand with a feminine French designer.
If you could sit front row at a fashion show for any designer in history, who would it be and why?
A Coco Chanel fashion show on the steps of her Maison de Couture.
How do you celebrate finishing a collection?
With love, champagne and sleep.
If a girl was going to purchase her first Catherine Malandrino piece, what would you want it to be?
A dress, the iconic Catherine Malandrino silhouette – strong, feminine and effortless.
