Celebrity Chic: Carmen Electra
Tue, 2010-04-27 10:46 | by Lara CrystalFeatured Dress: Robert Rodriguez Collection Graphic Shoulder Dress
It's hard to miss with this one shouldered graphic print, and Carmen Electra looks sexy and sweet on the red carpet. We prefer it with an updo to showcase the neckline and with our own accessories (The Bling It On Necklace and Slice Bangle Set), but Carmen wears it well. Who do you think wore it better? -- Lara

Rent the Runway on Campus: Stop 1
Mon, 2010-04-26 10:02 | by Lara Crystal
As Rent the Runway's newest team member, I'm working on bringing campuses across the country to Rent the Runway - and last week I had the pleasure of making U of F my first stop!
UF has a student-run advertising agency, Adwerks, which is incredible, and I am psyched to see how they work with our team of Runway Reps to bring designer dresses to campus. After talking and planning for hours, we of course had to try on dresses! (And they even got me in a Hervé Léger!) I am excited to find other groups like Adwerks at schools across the country and would love to hear from students involved in marketing, advertising and PR organizations on campus - so if that's you, please let me know your ideas for bringing RTR to your campus - shoot me an email at TR@renttherunway.com.
P.S. Check out this article about RTR coming to UF in the campus paper, ‘The Gainesville Sun.’ Shout-out to Soma for the write-up!-- Tamar
Shoes, Shoes: Part 2
Fri, 2010-04-23 13:50 | by Lara CrystalMore shoes from inside Rent the Runway:
Brooke Hartmann: These fun cutout wedges offer a modern style that can be worn year-round. I'd like to see them with our new Theory Beaded Detail Chemise and Cara Accessories' The More the Merrier Bangles.
Ashley Bellman: These wrap up heels offer a sexy summer option. Perfect for spicing up the Brian Reyes Watercolor Wonder Dress and Miguel Ases Golden Girls Earrings.
Eco-Runway
Thu, 2010-04-22 19:59 | by Lara CrystalAlways on top of the latest trends, Rent the Runway is an eco-friendly supporter of this earth we live on. So this earth day, we wanted to remind you that you can think green with fashion in mind. To start, think of all of the materials and energy used to make one of our beautiful dresses; it would be such a shame to have it sitting in your closet after just one wear. Borrowing avoids typical waste from the fashion habits that leave so many dresses abandoned after one wear.
It gets even better (and greener) – we use an eco-friendly, organic dry cleaner. Our dry cleaning partner Slate leverages eco-friendly cleaners and packing materials wherever possible. Green is so the new black. Happy Earth Day! -- Jenny
Shoes, Shoes, How Do I Choose?
Wed, 2010-04-21 11:44 | by Lara CrystalOn rare occasions at Rent the Runway we let our dress-centric minds wander over to other things. With spring heating up, some think of wedding season, shorts season, beach season, but to me it will always be shoe season. While I love a good boot, there’s nothing like a sexy sandal to put me in the mood. We’ll be sharing our seasonal favorites from inside Rent the Runway this week and we’d love to hear yours in the comments. Here's J+J's picks to kick us off. -- Lara
Jenny Fleiss: To go from work to play effortlessly, I'm eyeing these affordable sandals. Perfect with Tracy Reese's Macrame Trim Tank Jumpsuit and the Geometric Bangle Set from AV Max.
Jenn Hyman: These studded gladiators give every outfit some glam. Pair with Helmut Lang's Graphite Colorblock Dress and Cara Accessories' Racy Coil Bracelet for urban street chic.
Weekend Wedding Wear
Mon, 2010-04-19 19:30 | by Lara CrystalNormally I try not to play favorites, but occasionally a beautiful piece deserves a small shout-out. Take, for example, this beautifully structured bustier from Bibhu Mohapatra. The details are divine, and it offers the perfect peek of color to take it beyond basic black.
The style manages to be stunning and yet utterly wearable at the same time – definitely a chic cocktail choice. I’ve got a wedding this weekend that this dress will be attending, paired with Janis Savitt’s Starburst Earrings. Any ideas for a bracelet? -- Lara
Romp My World!
Mon, 2010-04-19 13:06 | by Lara CrystalThe one-piece playsuit has been on my mind for a while and at Rent the Runway we just can’t get enough! Our insanely cute jumpers offer instant style with a fresh face and with NYC predicted to heat up this week, we plan on sporting one soon. Jazz it up with stacked bangles or add a statement necklace to walk the streets with style.
Rent Tibi’s Lace Detail Romper, Halston Heritage’s Retro Romper, or Tracy Reese’s Macrame Trim Tank Jumpsuit. P.S. Don't forget to add some accessories! -- Blaire
One Dress, Four Ways
Wed, 2010-04-14 19:10 | by Lara CrystalThe best part about launching accessories is that it provides so much more flexibility – just adding a bracelet or a earrings can take your look to the next level. We’ve taken this simple Herve Leger Bandage Dress and added four great accessories to create four unique looks. The Starburst Earrings are the perfect cocktail look, the Ombre Bangle Set can take you instantly to resort chic, the From Daytime to Night Bracelet is great for date night, and the A-list Necklace will create a dynamite formal look.
How would you style it? -- Lara
Caught Being Too Chic!
Mon, 2010-04-12 19:28 | by Lara Crystal
Stripes are definitely in for Spring- walking around Soho in NYC this weekend I saw some interpretation of the classic Breton stripes around every corner. They look great layered under a cropped trench coat, with a chunky cardigan, or with rolled up boyfriend jeans and some cute flats. Being super chic has never been easier! You can imagine the laugh we all had when Blaire our stylist, Ashley our Graphic Designer and myself all strolled into the office wearing black and white stripes! The fashion police immediately incarcerated us and took this group photo.
If you love stripes as much as I do try these RTR styles for your next event! -- Derek
Accessories!
Mon, 2010-04-12 17:26 | by Lara CrystalApologies for being completely absent this past week, but I think it was worth the wait. Jewelry has finally arrived! Whether you want to make your look edgy or elegant, classic or trendy, feminine or fierce, the drama is in the details with standout pieces that will transform your Rent the Runway experience. Update a dress that you already own with accessories or rent an entire look for full-on fabulous. To help you narrow down the selection, the RTR stylists have pre-styled every dress with inspired pairings so you’re guaranteed to step out in style. My favorites are below, but honestly it’s tough to pick just a few.

Spring Ahead with Milly
Mon, 2010-04-05 23:38 | by Lara CrystalThe warm weather is finally upon us and it’s amazing how just a little sunshine can change your mood and your willingness to spend all day Saturday shopping to find that perfect spring wardrobe. For me, spring has always been about newness and experimentation – every new (and important) friendship I’ve made has started in springtime, most new relationships, even new traditions, like the annual beach party! Now that I think about it, maybe I’m just a nicer/prettier/more thoughtful person when it’s sunnier outside (note to self to work on this!). So in honor of sunshine, rooftop parties, al fresco dining, and garden fetes – I wanted to point out a few pieces by Milly that I think are essential to any spring wardrobe.
Remember, Milly has been gracious enough to give all Rent the Runway ladies a 10% off discount for all purchases made on Millyny.com this week. So, here’s what I’d use the discount for:
1) Rent the Runway’s all about dresses, so I gotta start there. Build your spring wardrobe with a classic LBD. It won’t go out of style, you’ll always look a size thinner and you can accessorize it up to match the trends. The one above is my favorite by Milly this season due to the embellishment.
2) I desperately, desperately need a trench coat or any spring jacket for that matter. This one has a bit of classic Burberry feel to it but with a bit of a downtown, younger edge. Love it!
3) I’m not ready for bikini season – and while the rest of the girls in the office have gone on a juice cleanse, I’ve started to go to Physique 57 where I’m now (proudly) up to 2x a week which is very big for me. Before this I hadn’t been to the gym since June! To motivate myself for what I know lies ahead, it’s best to buy that bikini now! When there is a will there is a way. And sometimes that will is thinking of your current self in a new bikini.
Remember to use the promo code MILLYRTR2010 at checkout, and comment here to let us know which pieces you think are perfect additions to your spring wardrobe. -- Jenn
Friday Fun: Peeps on Parade!
Fri, 2010-04-02 11:03 | by Lara CrystalWhile some offices are closed today, it’s business as usual at Rent the Runway. But it’s not all fashion all the time – every once in a while we take a break. Here’s what’s making us smile today: Peeps on Parade! My favorite is Tiger and his ‘chicks’ but I also like Mad Peeps (both shown below) – which one do you like the best? Click here to see all of them. -- Lara
